This American Life Promotes Emanuele Berry to Executive Editor

Oct. 2, 2020
We’re excited to announce that Emanuele Berry has been promoted to Executive Editor. In this newly-created position, Emanuele will be in charge of the show’s editorial vision. She’ll lead a conversation with our staff about what’s happening in the world and rally them to cover it in an original and meaningful way.

Emanuele joined the team at This American Life in 2019 as a producer and editor. In the past year, she’s reported and co-produced some of our most ambitious episodes, including one about the protests in Hong Kong, one following the staff and coronavirus patients at a hospital in Detroit, and our recent coverage of schools reopening. She’s also the only staff member so far to have broken reality TV news in her reporting for the show.

Before coming to This American Life, Emanuele was an editor and producer at Gimlet Media, where she ran and worked on several shows including The Nod, Undone, and StartUp. Previously, she worked as a public radio reporter in Michigan and Missouri. Emanuele is a 2014 AIR New Voices Scholar and the recipient of a 2015 Fulbright award to Macau, China.
